Coach Logan Traylor was named the varsity head coach at Garrett in April 2024.
Traylor came into the role with coaching experience at multiple levels including as an assistant for the Snider boys program, at DeKalb, at Huntington University, with the Fort Wayne Flite (semi-pro CBA league) and as a founder, director and and head coach at Summit City Elite.
Through Summit City Elite, Traylor has been able to send many players on to play at the college level across the United States.
“The main goal for our program is to establish a culture of pursing excellence and growth every day we get the opportunity to be together,” Traylor said. “We want a program that players will love and that our community will be proud of.”
Coach Crone comes to Garrett with experience of 7 years as a high school varsity assistant/scout including a sectional title. He has spent one season as a JV head coach/varsity assistant and three years as a middle school head coach including a 22-0 NE8 conference championship season.
Coach Crone also brings seven years of high school AAU basketball coaching experience, as wall as experience on the gridiron as a defensive back coach for New Haven football and as a JV defensive coordinator and currently is part of the Garrett Railroader football staff.
A 2012 graduate of IPFW and 2004 graduate of New Haven High School, Crone has also spent multiple years working with scouting and recruiting syndicates.
Coach Vance comes to Garrett with experience of 21 years coaching basketball on various levels in Indiana and Virginia. Included are 5 seasons spent as a varsity assistant, including a sectional title and a SAC title with North Side High School, where he also coached on the freshman level. Coach Vance also brings five years of high school AAU basketball coaching experience, now with Summit City Elite.
An alum of IPFW and North Side High School, Vance has been a face of prep basketball writers in Northeast Indiana and has spent over 20 years covering high school basketball for various publications. He was a 2021 recipient of the Indiana Basketball Coaches Association’s Virgil Sweet Award for “meritorious service to basketball in the state of Indiana.”
Coach DeWitt returns to Garrett for season 21 as part of the boys basketball program, where he has worked under several different varsity coaches, as well himself being a former interim head varsity coach.
Coach DeWitt has coached at every level with the Railroaders from 7th grade through varsity and this will be his 7th straight season as the the head Junior Varsity coach.
Students and basketball players alike are well acquainted with Coach DeWitt as he works in the building as the Student Information System and Corporation Testing Coordinator and was formerly a business teacher; this is his 28th year at Garrett High School.
An alum of Leo High School, Moore played for the Lions and also with the Summit City Elite AAU program during his basketball career. Moore pivoted into coaching while still in high school and has coached with Summit City Elite and within back-to-school leagues in Northeast Indiana.
